Are You Still Trying to Make It?

Don't let our culture dictate your terms of acceptance.

Everyone is trying to earn a place in this world.

To grab their 15 minutes of fame, “likes” on Facebook or an award at the conference.

But after the fanfare, all falls quiet and we are left in solitude.

Yet we are not alone.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. When you walk through fire you shall not be burned. For I am the Lord your God. Because you are precious in my eyes and honored and I love you!” – Isaiah 43:2-4

With my first grandchild (and all who came later), it was love at first sight. She didn’t do anything to earn it: She was mine. Even today, nothing can separate her from my love.

To every child of God still trying to “make it” in this world, I say to you: Stop! You belong to Him.

There’s no one to please, nothing to prove, no award to be won. You woke up today (and will awake tomorrow) with a new opportunity to know and love Him. And because we are His, God is ceaselessly at work in us for our good.

Imagine the possibilities!

P.S. I also recommend a related post by Eric Geiger that explores the peace we can have in belonging.
